Brava to Da’Vine Joy Randolph for Her Oscar-Winning Turn in The Holdovers
She won the Oscar® for Best Supporting Actress at the 96th Academy Awards.
At the 96th Academy Awards, Da’Vine Joy Randolph won the Academy Award® for Best Supporting Actress for her stellar performances in The Holdovers.
In the film, Randolph plays Mary Lamb, the cafeteria manager at a prestigious New England Prep School who is quietly mourning the loss of her son who recently died in Vietnam.
Upon receiving her award, Randolph told the audience, “For so long I've always wanted to be different. And now I realize, I just need to be myself. And I thank you, I thank you for seeing me."
In addition to winning the Academy Award® for Best Supporting Actress, Randolph also won the Best Supporting Actress award at the BAFTAs, the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and Film Independent Spirit Awards, among others. She is the third woman to win a Best Supporting Actress Oscar® for a Focus Features film.
